New 928 Registry Site

Does anybody know why the 928 Registry is not accepting registrations, or how long it will be down? Is there a backup registration method?

It hasn't been updated since 2009. Just before I got my car. The registry is for sale and has been discussed here and at other forums. Probably wont be updated until someone new takes it over. .........That's a shame......

To spur the decision to keep the registry going, I sent along a donation as gesture to help the decision to keep it going.

If you go over to RennList, it appears that there's a registry site available there. Presently, it seems to be for 944's.

The 928 Registry was NEVER for anything other than the 928 and it does not require ANY donation. Just join the 928 Owners Club and watch what happens VERY SOON!!!

Mystery and drama is what we know, I guess. No Board vote to spend money, so we might assume that the OC hasn't purchased it (yet?).

I hope you guys don't pay for it.. if it were donated it would be cool.. but the content is so out of date and needs much work to make it viable again...it isn't really worth much..

and yea... if you're paying for it....when did the vote to allocate funds occur and what was the vote count?

What if there is an agreement of confidentiality and there has been no expenditure of funds?

Not sure what an agreement of confidentiality does wrt to the Registry?.. but if no club funds were expended..then I suppose it would be a worthwile undertaking.... You'll likely need a dedicated club member to get it back into something useable.. almost better to start from scratch.. Wasn't there someone on renny who had access to every 928 made via VIN ?..I remember him posting about various optioned cars..and numbers in the different countries etc?

I know Villhuer (Erkka) does some of this.. but the guy I was thinking about is Rixter (I had to dig deep to find the thread). He had access to a spreadsheet or actual paper copies of all the VINs and options....Here's a thread where he discusses the 89GT's...

Also, what is the intent with respect to listing- one or more people went on a mission to enter cars found from adds and such, to create the most comprehensive index possible.

Given the limited data blocks available, I'm not sure that is as helpful compared with the benefit of having a manageable roster comprised of members that participate in the community?

Derrick is heading up the 928 Registry Committee and will need plenty of help. My hope is that if anyone sees a car online or in an ad somewhere and if there is enough info that car will be added. The point is to have data and info on as many different 928's as possible and for that data to be as up to date as possible...

All changes and entries will be moderated so folks can't go in and change their cars history for nefarious reasons...

I'm excited about the new site, the features and ease of use are very impressive. Many thanks to ChuckZ for creating and maintaining the site for so many years, and to the OC for taking it on and forward! Kudos, also, to Derrick - he's done an excellent job getting the new site to this beta stage.

thats great to hear. i know from a database standpoint thats a big undertaking. looking forward to seeing the other cars come back. wouldnt want to bore all users with all the pics of just my car.

Can't log on to new 928 Registry, says user name/password don't match. No trouble logging onto 928OC, I'm assuming the password would be the same ??

No, you will need to set up another sign-in log-in for Registry. While it is linked here it is not an integrated part of the 928OC forum. Sorry about that. Some things we just have not over come yet. I think you can probably set it up to be the same user name and log-in (I think that is what I did) but they are not linked so signing in here does not automatically get you signed in there.
