Youtube really works well for hosting all things audio/video. If you just have an audio track, go the slideshow route, or even just have one really cool photo in the background. Linking to it is easy, the quality is excellent, and it will work from most any device someone might be trying to access the file from. Just my two-cents.

Steve, we welcome audio to be shared on the Registry! But, you will need to host it through a different source, like YouTube (or anything else). I recommend YouTube because you can rest assured the end-user will be able to play the clip from whatever device they are using. No matter the source, you can paste a link to it in the owner comments section (or wherever you choose) on your car's entry in the new Registry. This goes for any media that you want to share. Also, if it is preferred, we can create fields specifically for exhaust clips, or track days and such. If anyone has any opinions on new fields, please share in the 928 Registry thread!

We can't give space for hosting large files like that on the Registry for disk space concerns, and if there winds up being a large amount of audio/video on the server, it can be very resource intensive, resulting in slow loading times, requiring us to beef up the backend!

Mine doesn't run yet, but when it does, there will be videos, lots of videos!!!

I have a Rode VideoMic that is 'ok' for stuff like this, but it doesn't have the world's best bass response, so I am going to be using my Blue Yeti connected to my phone or tablet via USB, and play around mounting it in a rubber-band type mount in different places in the car, and align that audio with the video from the Canon 7D. The Blue Yeti has some really good sound quality, THX certified! (although that might be a little bit of hogwash)

I hope my local airport will let me get on the runways at night when nobody is coming in, which is almost always. There isn't actually anyone there after five, and it isn't gated, but permission would be nice... I've gotta get the car running and driving first though, so my audio clips are still months out.

In general practice though, I have found that keeping the mic away from the exhaust will get the best results. The sound from an exhaust is so intense that it can overload the mic and you get raspy, popping sound. So, you want to keep it off to the side, but not far away, and make sure there is a really good windscreen. Most mics will do better with the gain turned all the way down as well, if they have that adjustment. It's all trial and error, really.
