another new member

Hi All,

New to SoCal (from Nebraska) and the OC...

Just picked up my S4 yesterday... too much fun driving it to introduce myself

Shes' been pampered since 1990 by the second owner, I feel fortunate to have stumbled across her.

I'm not totally devoid to mechanical skills,l but the is newest model I've ever owned (and plan to wrench). My last 3 cars were a '67 MGB, '62 Chrysler Newport vert, and '62 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II... so I have some learn'n to do

Hi all,
I am a new member with a 1985 928S model. I am not only new but know nothing. Bought this car for two impractical reasons---sentimental attachment to previous owner & because I have never had a "sports car". I live in Ohio and need to know (first) about any reputable repair shops. Any tips on anything will be appreciated.
I am in Northeast Ohio, Sandusky---which is midway between Toledo & Cleveland.

Well I guess those are good enough reasons as any,,, so welcome to the 928OC!

First of all - read the FAQ here on the board with a lot of basic good to know tips and advice. Just dive in and search for topics to get started.

What you have done is, purchased an increasingly rare and marvelous piece of German engineering that can make you smile every time you take it out and throttle it a little bit.

You seem to have purchased for personal and emotional reasons.... cool enough, because you did not purchase something that will give you your money back... These are mostly labors of of love and passion, not investment, so maybe a good start for the right reasons.

Depending on the condition of your "Shark" (we need a LOT of details and pictures!) you may be in real good shape or may have a year or two of fixes and upgrades to go, depending on what you want to end up with, a show car, a daily driver, something for the weekends, a track car... etc.and how much $$$ you want to invest. An 85 928S is a great platform but you need to take note of the condition of a few important things or you could run into big trouble (like the timing belt for example).

Glad to see you and we will always try to direct you and help when we can. I will advise you though to always be specific, give lots of details and pics whenever possible...it can be a fun and rewarding ride. There are also many places to get parts, so when you need them we can help with advice there as well.

Take a look in every tread to understand where things get put.
Start your self a page about your car, document everything, take lots of pictures.
search what you want to fix and find how some others fixed it and if your lucky, with pictures remember lots of pictures lol
