928OC Election 2015

928OC elections are held every other year, on odd years. So, the 2015 election will soon be underway.

An email was recently sent out to all club members with the following information:

Beginning Sunday, July 26, nominations will be accepted for those wishing to serve on the Board of Directors for the 928 OC. All positions are open for nominations. The positions are:

President
Vice-President
Secretary
Treasurer
Trustee #1
Trustee #2

While the descriptions of the board member positions are defined in our bylaws, in general:
The President directs the club and brings issues to the board for voting.
The Vice-President supports the President in directing the club.
The Secretary maintains electronic records of club documents and Board votes.
The Treasurer monitors and administers the club's funds.
The two Trustees participate in Board discussions electronically and vote on all issues (as all members of the board do).

In addition to the six elected positions described above, the club’s most-recent Past President serves as a seventh Board member in the capacity of a third Trustee.

Only current members of the 928 OC may submit nominations or be nominated for a board position. Nominees must be contacted by the nominator before submission to ensure the nominee will accept the nomination. 928 OC elections are held every other year. So, the term of service is two years.

Voters need to have sufficient information to make an informed choice. Therefore, all nominees shall write a “candidate profile” which will be viewable to all members via the “928 OC Member” web forum.

The election committee for 2015 consists of the following board members:

Following the nomination period, the slate of candidates will be announced to the membership.

This election will be administered using a service called ElectionBuddy.com. Each 928 OC member will receive an electronic voting key via email. Upon completion of the election, the vote tally will be made available via ElectionBuddy.com.

Timeline for 928 OC Election 2015:
7/26 Nominations open for a three-week period.
8/15 Nominations close and the slate of candidates is announced
8/23 Election commences for a three-week period.
9/12 Election closes and results are announced.
9/28 The newly-elected Board takes office
